Ilkley Complementary Medicine Festival 2007
A very good festival promoting natural remedies, therapies & related products, with exhibitors and practitioners from all over the country, plus talks, workshops and fringe events.
Spring and Autumn festivals every year.
I (Sarah) usually try to go along, it brilliant for mind, body and spirit books, crystals and interesting gifts, as well as informative talks and a good place to have taster sessions of healing and complementary therapies or have a reading or just look around. It does get very busy though and the quietest time is usually first thing on the Saturday morning.
The
next one is on:
Saturday 25th - Sunday 26th October 2008
10am to 5pm
Kings Hall, Winter Gardens, Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

Christkindelmarkt
Great as always! We have been to this as a family and with friends for several years now and its a wonderful way to enjoy the festive spirit of the season. There's festive German food and drink for most ages and tastes, traditional German festive gifts, wooden toys and more, as well as a small family funfair.
We find it's essential to all wrap up warm if you're going to stay for a while as most of it is outdoors. A nice end to the day is to walk back to the train station after dark and enjoy the festive lights in Leeds City centre.

Conference on Small-Scale & DIY Green Roofs and Rooftop Gardens in Sheffield
We attended this on
Saturday 13th October 2007 and if it repeated we would highly recommend if for any one interested in green roofs, green walls or roof top gardens - individuals and businesses. It was really inspirational, much more than just Sedum roofs - meadow planting and even desert type planting. And lots and lots of technical information, as well as the environmental benefits fully explore and explained.
The only down point was the lack of information on green roofs for self builders of eco houses, but the information could be transferred to this setting relatively easily.
