Grasmere, Lake District

Summer 2004 - YHA

I love the Lake District - I could easily live there!

The scenery is amazing and it's very relaxing - but the tourist areas are very busy most of the year - especially Bowness-On-winderemere

The public transport is very good - a train to Windermere, then a lots of buses to all parts of the Lake District, although some are seasonal.

We stayed at a lovely youth hostel just out of the centre of Grasmere - with a great garden for the kids to play in and it was very family friendly generally. YHA Grasmere

Positives - Lovely scenery and walking, the weather was good when we were there, some good indoor/rainy weather activities too.

Challenges - YHA family rooms are often small, the weather in the Lake District can be grey and wet, come areas are very busy and touristy.

We definitely go back to the Lake District.
